U13 Premier Match Report – Jan 4th

The u13 Premier team returned to action with a victory over Lakewood. This was a solid performance from the team after a number of week of inactivity.

The team dominated possession in midfield, with Jeff Holden & Conor Murphy prominent throughout. A number of early chances were created but none were put away until the 9th minute when Jeff Holden won possession outside the Lakewood box, he beat 2 players and finished it off with a fine left footed shot which the keeper couldn't keep out.

The defence was not out under any pressure, saw a welcome return to action for Scott Philpott, playing his first league match of the season. He was ably assisted by Sean Dunlea, Jack McFall & Liam Edwards.

At the start of the second half the team started to put more passes together, again missing out with a few shots. A goal came in the 36 minute from Ricardo Dinanga. There was little to write about after that until 55th minute when Lakewood won a free kick on the edge of the area, this resulted in a goal after a mix up in the defence.

Corinthians quickly restored their lead with a goal from Brian Hayes following a fine corner from Leo Barron.

The team have an important away league fixture against Springfield Ramblers next Saturday.
