Street Leagues 2005

The finals of the Clubs Annual Street Leagues recently took place in Corinthians Park.

Blessed with good weather on the day, a large crowd turned up to witness the action and to savour the occasion. The programme started bright and early with the first game played at 10.00am and the action continued at a hectic pace up to the presentation ceremony, which took place at  2.45pm. Over 300 boys and girls took part in the seventeen different finals as well as the very popular penalty competitions. For those who were not directly involved in the action, there was plenty of other attractions with our ladies committee organising Face Painting and the very popular Story Telling for the younger generation.

While some families took advantage of the good weather and brought along their own picnic baskets, nobody was left feeling "peckish" with everyone involved receiving their own lunch bags. Tea, Coffee, Sandwiches, Ice Cream, Candy Floss etc were all available in the Marque area.

The seventeen finals provided some fantastic entertainment for the spectators with plenty of thrills and spills and even the occasional tear. However when the dust finally settled after some fantastic football everyone was a winner. Street Leagues in Corinthians are all about participation, giving everyone involved the chance to play on a team. Winning or losing is not important and everyone who participates goes home with a trophy or medal. For the record the winners on the day were

Under Eight : Dynamo Kiev captained by Daniel Kingston

Under Nine :  PSG captained by Andrew Dorgan

Under Eleven : Anderlecht captained by David Barry

Girls Final :  Brazil captained by Joanne Ryan

New Season. 2005 / 2006

Coaching for the new season will start in Corinthians Park on Saturday morning August 20th, individual age group training times  are as follows

Under 8 &  9  ( 1996 / 1997 )    9.30am –  10.45am

Under 10   ( 1995 )   11.00am – 12.15pm

Under 6 & 7  ( 1999 / 1998 )  12.30pm  –  1.45pm
