Street League Finals Day
The Street League Finals Day took place on Sunday June 21st; blessed with good weather there was a fantastic turnout with more than three hundred boys and girls taking part. The day was about a lot more than football and families, coaches and players mingled in a lovely friendly atmosphere.
The finals Day is the culmination of the underage season in Corinthians which started in late August 2014 and was now reaching a fitting finale; the Street Leagues had kicked off in late April and as always proved immensely popular with the players getting the chance to learn to be part of a team. While everyone gives 100% for their team as they strive for success, winning and losing is not overly important with participation being the key and the great thing about Street Leagues is that everyone plays all the time.
A big thank you as always to those who helped to make the day possible; the Ladies Committee, Club coaches, Brendan Mc Carthy on the PA, our Grounds man Denis Barry who did a superb job, all the goalkeepers who came up for the always popular penalty competitions and Eoghan O’ Connell (Glasgow Celtic) and John Kavanagh (Cork City) who came along amidst great excitement to help with the presentation.
Finally a mention for our under 11’s, finals Day marks the end of their time with the underage section and they received a special Graduation plaque to mark their progression to the Club’s schoolboy session.
