Division 2

Kinsale    3  Corinthian Boys A  1

This was a very enjoyable contest with Corinthians performing with great credit against a very good Kinsale side. The game was very tight in the opening half with little to choose between the sides but it was Corinthians who jumped in front midway through the opening half when Fiachra Twohig scored with a fine strike from the edge of the area. It looked as if they would hold this lead until the interval but unfortunately conceded just before the the break when Kinsale scored direct from a free kick.

Kinsale opened strongly in the second period  and took the lead when they scored with a fine header from a corner. They increased their lead shortly afterwards when the centre forward broke through to score despite the best efforts of keeper Daniel Walsh. To their credit Corinthians heads never dropped and as the game swing from end to end in the closing 15 minutes could have reduced the deficit on a number of occasions but it also took a number of fine saves from Daniel to keep Kinsale out at the other end.

Corinthians squad: Darren Sheehan, Daniel Walsh, Tom O’ Mahony, Dylan Ryan, Stephen Samuel, Eoin O’ Sullivan,  Luke O’ Herlihy, Fiachra Twohig, Max Healy,  Gary Farkes, Billy Clancy, Liam Mc Grath, Ugo Okankwo, David Bennet, Adam Young

Greenwood 2  Corinthian Boys  4

Despite going a goal down inside the first 10 minutes the U15 Premier team showed tremendous

character and resilience to not only turn the deficit around but to go on and win this top of the table clash.

Not playing to their usual high standards in the first half, they secured a penalty just before half time when Ricardo Dinanga

pressured the Greenwood centre back, got the ball off him and was subsequently fouled. Adam Idah scored from the spot.

In the second half, playing with increased tempo, they soon put Greenwood on the back foot,a long range free kick which Ronaldo

would be proud of, was fired to the corner of the net by Scott Philpott. This was followed by a well deserved goal from Jeff Holden and a second for Adam Idah.

Greenwood managed a ate consolation goal but all in all a terrific second half performance ensures the team stay top of the table.
