Wilton A 0 Corinthian Boys A 2
This was a pulsating clash with both teams giving their all in search of victory. Wilton surprised Corinthians with a high tempo from the start and were a bit unfortunate not to take the lead with Cors net minder Mikey O’ Connell making a great save and Corinthians were also a little fortunate when Wilton had a goal disallowed.
Corinthians came into the game more as they half went on and came close on several occasions with a header from Harry Murphy producing a great save from the Wilton keeper. With Corinthians back three led by the outstanding Oscar Squires looking more solid, Corinthians were growing in confidence and it came as no surprise when they took the lead just before the break; Harry Murphy won the ball in midfield before releasing Aaron Clarke who put Shakour through and he finished calmly.
Buoyed by this, Corinthians started the second half brightly with Cian O’ Callaghan thundering into the game at right back, Robbie Barrett and Max Lee dominating midfield; chances came and went as Corinthians chased what would be a match clinching second and their pressure was rewarded when Harry Murphy scored brilliantly from a narrow angle.
Wilton to their credit never threw in the towel and forced O’ Connell to several fine saves and right at the death Rian O’ Riodan was unlucky not to add a thurd for Corinthians when his goal was disallowed for offside.
