Grit and determination shown in a great win for Juniors
Corinthians took the lead with about 15 minutes gone. A stunning cross from Richie Cronin was met with the sweetest of glanced headers by Rory Burke to put the boys in blue and white one up. With Mark "Boz" O'Sullivan having to come off due to injury a few minutes later, Corinthians were left with no subs on the bench.
Ringmahon grew in confidence and after sustained pressure scored a deserved equalizer 10 minutes before the half. Three outstanding saves from the Ringmahon 'keeper kept the sides level at half time.
Corinthians started the second half brightly and after a few half chances had gone a begging, Mark O'Driscoll came up trumps with a finish the most experienced of strikers would be proud of!! 2-1 to Corinthians!!
Due to injury Cathal Dold had to come off and Corinthians had to play the last 20 mins a man down… But this is where the heart showed.. Ringmahon couldn't break the centre back duo of Ian Lynch and Ronan Whyte and with Steve French and Richie Cronin keeping things tight in the center of midfield, a win was surely on the cards!!
With seconds left Ringmahon had the ball in the net but the whistle was blown for a foul on 'keeper Ger O'Connell. The protests came thick and fast but fell on deaf ears. The final whistle blew and the juniors had their first win of the season… And well deserved!!
Richie Cronin, who played in three positions on the day, was selected as man of the match.
Starting XI: Ger O'Connell, Richie Cronin, Mark O'Sullivan, Ronan Whyte, Ian Lynch, David McGuire, Cathal Dold, Stephen French, Ian James, Rory Burke and Mark O'Driscoll – Sub: James Kelleher (came on at 20mins)
