Great Week For the Club in Local Cups
What a week it has been with Cup football taking centre stage all week. The trend was set on Tuesday night when our U12P & 14P won their quarter finals against Kinsale and Rockmount. This brought us onto semi final action on Wednesday night with our Under 16's first in action away to Lakewood Ath. They payed some great football on the night and deservedly moved through to the final courtesy of a late extra time winner from Beineon Whitmarsh O' Brien.
And so to Thursday night with our 15's away to Greenwood and the 17's in Cup final action against Leeside. First to Greenwood where a superb hat trick from Adam Idah was the highlight as Corinthians moved through to a final meeting with Carrigaline after a 4-2 victory. Meanwhile down in Ringmahon Park our Under 17;s were in a battle royal against Leeside with chances coming and going for both sides until Keith White emerged as the hero with five minutes left when he scored from close range following great work by Alex Connolly. So the Teddy Healy Cup was destined for Corinthians Park; well done to Mick Connolly and the entire squad, it has been a real team effort which has seen the lads overcome the loss of several players to League Of Ireland Clubs as well as injuries, school Tours but they showed great spirit and deserved the win
Finally on Friday night we had our first disappointment of the week as our Under 12's were beaten 2-1 in their semi final by National Cup finalists Mallow. The lads played really well on the night and can hold their heads up high with Rory Baron notching Corinthians goal. Finally our Under 14P squad have had a busy week but the turned in another solid performance to overcame Douglas Hall on a 2-0 scoreline in their semi final with Destint Okankwo scoring the second within 30 seconds of comming off the bench. They will face Blarney Utd. They now have set up a fantastic end of season with a National Cup final against St. Joseoh Boys and a local Cup final against Blarney.
