Fine Team Performance By Under 12 Premier Squad

Corinthians Boys  3 – 1  Mallow Utd

This was a very even contest played in difficult conditions but both teams served up a cracker with 4 goals of the highest quality and worthy of a top of the table clash. Mallow were in good form coming in to this game and started brightly but both defences on top in the early stages.

However Cors took the lead on 15 mins with a super goal from Fionn Crowley. On a breakaway attack Fionn picked up the ball on the left wing, drove at the Mallow defence and finished expertly at the keepers near post. Chances were few and far between but Fionn and Alex Healy Byrne were a constant threat up front. It finished 1-0 at half time.

Mallow upped the pace at the start of the 2nd half and were rewarded with an excellent goal 3 mins into the 2nd half. The game was now very much in the melting pot and the next goal was always going to be decisive. Evan Collins and William Buckley were giving Cors a slight edge in midfield with their strong play and James Fox was excelling in defence and Cors were pushing to win the game. It would take something special to win the game and Alex Healy Byrne certainly provided that with 9 mins remaining. Alex won the ball on halfway and took on 4 Mallow defenders and showing great speed and determination he scored a brilliant individual goal worthy of winning any game. Alex wasn’t finished yet and 2 minutes later showed his determination again in holding off Mallow’s 2 central defenders and squaring for Rory Barron to finish easily for another goal of high quality.

This win maintained the lads 100% start to the season and others  to perform brilliantly on the day were Donnacha O Callaghan, Adrien Thiabout  and Sean O Leary.
