Cork Schoolboys League Clubs seek clarification from SFAI

                                                                                                                        January 23rd 2014

Mr Martin O’ Hanlon,

General Secretary,

Schoolboy Football Association of Ireland,

National Sports Campus,

Dublin 15.

Re: Proposed New Draw for SFAI National Cups

Dear Martin,

It has been brought to the attention of the Cork School Boys League Clubs, which remain in the National Cup Competitions for 2013/14 i.e. last thirty two that a new draw is to be undertaken by the SFAI for each competition in Abbotstown this evening  January 23rd ,2014. No explanation or statement has been issued by the SFAI confirming the position or giving any explanation to the Clubs as why a new draw is needed. We find this wholly unacceptable.

Can you now please clarify on behalf of the Clubs noted below the following queries?

  • Why a new draw is necessary when the SFAI draw of December 14th currently exists and is acceptable to the seven regions who participated in that draw as being fair and just?
  • Why were the Dublin District Schoolboys League allowed to conduct a totally independent, seeded and separate draw within their own region when all the other seven regions complied with the SFAI draw of August 24th 2013 and played our their fixtures in accordance with that draw by the required date?

Please note that the twelve Cork Schoolboys League Clubs (25 Teams) listed below reserve their position in terms of participating in the National Cup Competitions on the basis of the proposed new draw of January 23rd until a satisfactory explanation is received from the SFAI on the above queries.

We await hearing from you with a written response to the above reasonable queries.

Yours in sport,

Kieran O’ Donovan,

Secretary, Corinthian Boys

Signed on behalf of Cork Schoolboys League Clubs
