Under 13’s follow under 12’s example in claiming local Cup
Local Cup Final
Corinthian Boys 5 Douglas Hall 0
In what was another fantastic night for the Club Corinthian Boys under 13’s captured the local cup with a comfortable but slightly flattering 5-0 win over Douglas Hall. This victory added to the under 12’s cup win the previous night gave the schoolboy section a fantastic double.
The strength of the Corinthians side all year has always been in the quality and depth of its squad, they have had several players struggling with injuries throughout the season and players have come in and out of the side on a regular basis and everyone has performed when called upon. This was the case again last night with Jeff Holden ruled out late through injury and Conor Murphy unable to start manager Stephen Bermingham turned to Jack Mc Fall and Cillian Mc Gowan to fill the central midfield area and like their team mates all season they got on with it and performed admirably.
Understandably both sides started nervously in front of the large criwd and there was little to choose between the two teams for the opening twenty minutes, however the opening goal when it came fell to Corinthians and the outstanding Adam Idah and once in front Corinthians settled better and began to take control. Further goals followed before half time and Corinthians went in at the break 3-0 in front which was harsh on Douglas Hall and certainly did not reflect their contribution to the first half.
Boosted by the gals late in the first half Corinthians were comfortable in the second half and added two further goals to finish 5-0 winners with David Fox, Fionn Molloy and Adam Idah who went on to complete his hat trick all on the score sheet.
On behalf of the Club I would like to congratulate everyone involved with the team coaches Stephen, Michael, Dermot, Craig and Jordan and all the players and their families on a great success for all concerned. Well done to everyone involved.
