Under 14 A win seven goal thriller
game of the weekend saw under 14 A team win a seven goal thrille(4-3) after extra time away to Corkbeg in loval cup clash
In what was an all too entertaining game for those on the sideline Corinthians went thru to the second round of the cup with little to spare after an excellent end to end game against a courageous Cork beg side.
One down after 8mins Cors equalised with a fine solo Adam Casey goal, however a fine strike from a free kick again gave Cork beg the lead, which was soon doubled by a poorly defended third just before half time.
At 3-1 down only a team with character would respond and I'm glad to say this Cors team has plenty.
The boy's rallied realising they had to do more than show up to progress. Adam Casey gave Corinthians a fighting chance after 7 min of the second half with his second, and after that it was end to end stuff. Adam Callanan has scored in every game this year and he wasn't to be denied with a timely leveller with 5 plus stoppage left.
Not to be upstaged by the players the official awarded a Cork beg Penalty seconds after the equaliser Adam Murphy O Dwyer looked composed in goal and soon after kicked the ball back into play at 3 all. Cors themselves were awarded a penalty a minute or so later however the final whistle eventually came at 3-3.
The Boys were well up for extra time and continued their dominance with Sam O Sullivan and Luke Wade playing well on the wings. With both central midfielders Adam Casey and Mark Fitzgibbon after giving there all they swapped with central defenders James Adrninian and Andrew Geany O Brien
The latter part of extra time was pretty much all Corinthians and after a goal mouth skirmish James slotted home the winner to much approval from his team mates. Cork Beg proved one of the most committed teams the lads played against his year and looked a team that will be a force to be wary of in the future. Jason Clifford and Shane Twomey did the simple stuff in defence that kept Corinthians in the game when and showed best for Cors on a though day.
