Under 14’s bid to join 12’s, 13’s & 15’s in Cup Semi final

Schoolboy Local Cup Update

Corinthians under 15 Premier side made it through to the semi finals of the local Cup on Friday night with an extraordinary 5-4 victory over Lakewood Athletic, also in action on Friday night were our under 12 Premier side joined them in the semi finals with a 6-0 win over a Riverstown side who were not at their best on the nighht. On Wednesday night our under 13's got through to the semi finals with a 3-1 win away to Buttevant. The focus now switches to our 14's; see fixtures below

Last week our under 14 Premier side had got the better of local rivals Douglas Hall in the under 14 Cup on a 1-0 scoreline. (see report below)

Corinthians 1-0 Douglas Hall

Corinthians came out on top in this last 16 local cup clash at home to Douglas Hall. The rivalry generated whenever these local rivals meet was present as usual and resulted in a tense opening half. Few chances were created by either side though Corinthians looked more threatening through Conor Fagan and Rory Doyle. The second half was a more open affair with players tiring and open spaces starting to be exploited. Corinthians soon gained control of the game but couldn't seem to break down the strong Douglas Hall defensive system. The decisive moment finally came with 15 minutes to go when a clever through ball on the break from Jaze Kabia found Adam Idah who skilfully slipped the ball past the oncoming Douglas Hall keeper. Corinthians built on this goal and could have had a second after good work from Robert Cregan but Conor Fagan's effort was well saved by the Hall keeper. Corinthians saw out the remainder of the game comfortably to ease through to the quarter final of the cup.

As a result of the above, quarter final fixtures have now been set for our under 12, 13 and 14 sides for this week and are as follows

TUESDAY APR 22nd

Under 12 Local Cup Quarter Final

Corinthian Boys v Riverstown, Top Pitch, 6.45pm, Tim McCarthy;

FRIDAY APRIL 25TH

Under 14 Local Cup Quarter Final

Corinthian Boys  V  Ringmahon Rangers, Main Pitch, 6.45pm

It would be great if you could come out and support our teams, these are very much 50 / 50 games which could go either way and I am sure a strong Corinthians support would be much appreciated by the teams

Match report CC under 12 Premier versus Fermoy Local Cup last 16.

Starting 11  :

Cian O'leary, Shane Cotter, Daniel Squires, Eoin Redmond,Alex Hill,Michael Nason,Joe Harte,Matt Healy,Daniel Meade,Mark Redmond, Robert Geaney O Brien subs George Coomber,Destiny,David O Sullivan,Sean Cantillion

CC started very well and took the early lead when Robert tapped in from close range. The next ten minutes was very even before Daniel Squires scored a great header from a corner. Fermoy hit back with a well worked goal. The game then got very sloppy and CC scored against the run of play with a goal from Eoin Redmond. Fermoy then responded with another goal before Robert scored just on half time to go 4 2 ahead.

 George replaced Daniel Meade, Sean Cantillion replaced Shane Cotter after 5 minutes. CC then scored again when Roberts shot was put in the net by a Fermoy player. Destiny replaced Mark Redmond and David O Sullivan replaced Alex Hill. CC continued to dominate the last 20 minutes with Daniel Squires and Robert Geaney O Brien adding to the scoreline. All in all a good result but defensively as a team a lot of work to be done before our next fixture.
