Douglas Hall 3  Corinthian Boys 3

This weeks game saw Corinthians travel to Douglas Hall. The game started at a frenetic pace and was played end to end as both teams went on the attack but it was Douglas hall who scored first as Corinthians struggled to come to terms with the Astro. The lead only lasted minutes as Corinthians came straight back into it with a rocket from fionn Crowley right footed past the keeper to make it 1-1. Parity didn't last long though as a defensive blunder gave Douglas hall a tap in to make it 2-1. Minutes later another lapse at the back made it 3-1 just before the break and Corinthians were left with a mountain to climb in the second half. The second half started as did the first and as time looked to be running out and with only two minutes remaining Ben Weldon was pushed up to centre forward alongside fionn Crowley and a lovely one two between them saw Ben Weldon rifle the ball right footed past the keeper to make it 3-2. Momentum now with the away side saw them pour forward in search of an equaliser and with time almost up forced another corner which was only cleared to the outside of the box to the waiting Ben Weldon who controlled it and finished this time left footed into the roof of the net to make it 3-3 and cap a great fight back by the away side who would not accept defeat even though they didn't play great on the day.

Division 3

Corinthian Boys B  4  Kilreen Celtic  1

CoHaving conceeded a goal in the first minute Corinthians settle down to play a very good brand of passing football.  Goals from Sean O'Leary had Corinthians leading 2-1 at half time. The first one a great strike from outside the box. Corinthians dominated the second half and goals from Miceal O'Mahony and David Bennett finished the game. Great team performance with Sean O'Leary, Diarmaid O'Regan and Shane Tobin stamping their class on the game.

Riverstown  2  Corinthian Boys  3

Corinthians staged a dramatic second half come back to come from 2-0  down to claim all three points. Riverstown went ahead early on when Corinthians conceded a penalty and they doubled their advantage just before the break after Corinthians had seen a penalty come back off the cross bar.

Even though the game seemed to be going against them, to their credit Corinthians picked up the pace in the second half and got back in the game when Robert Walsh scored with a fine free kick. The momentum had now swung in Corinthians favour and further goals followed from Ramon Kaspera and Tomas Hyde both created after excellent work by Brandon Idah. Great comeback by the team and special mention for team captain Jack Anthony who drove his team forward and encouraged everyone in the second half.

With memories of two points dropped at a similar stage last season, albeit away to Rockmount, Corinthians began this match with a high tempo. The brilliance of Sean Dennehy in the Rockmount goal  was a major factor in holding the home team at bay for the first 27 minutes. Jack Leonard used his 'weaker' right foot to find David Welch, who from 13 metres, curled an exquisite left foot shot high to the corner of the Rockmount net.

The second half was only minutes old when an excellent save from Cian O'Leary prevented an equaliser. This was a match of high standard. Both teams combined skill and technique with fierce determination. It was end to end for most of the second half. Both sides had super passing movements. This Corinthians team has shown how strong they are on the ground. Today, they married that with very strong play in the air in defence, midfield and up front.

Killanardrish/Coachford 1 – Corinthians Boys 4

Corinthians enjoyed a victory with a very flat performancel. Adam Idah opened the scoring after 2 minutes and was a constant threat with his running and presence for the whole match.

A mix up in the Corinthians defence allowed Coachford in for a soft goal after 20 minutes to level the game.

Corinthians missed numerous chances but eventually an unfortunate bad kick out by their keeper, who was excellent throughout, was seized upon again by Adam Idah, who finished with a lovely left shot to the corner before half time. Matthew Healy was excellent in midfield

In the second half Corinthians again had plenty of chances, after 45 minutes a free kick by Leo Barron was headed home by Adam Idah. This was quickly followed by a goal from Ricardo.

The only other action worthy of mention, was a fine run down the right wing by Sean Cantillon linking with David Welch whose cross came back off the cross bar with Destiny unlucky not to get on the end of the rebound.

The team are on the road again next week away to Greenwood.

Cors Boys A 2 Midleton 1

Corinthians showed great character to score the winner in the 63rd minute of a very exciting and tight match. The lads started well and took a deserved lead after 20 minutes when Ruairi Moriarty's diagonal pass found Andrew Kelleher who hammered the ball into the roof of the net from 10 yards. Midleton didn't give up and they came more into the game in the second half and forced an equaliser 15 minutes from the end. The lads dug deep and finally took one of their chances in the move of the game. Daniel Harte sent Andrew Greany clear on the left, his cross found Moriarty in the box and he held of a defender and laid the ball into the path of the in-rushing Daniel Harte who made no mistake from close range.

Corinthians 9-0 Innishvilla
A statement of intent was sent out from Castletreasure on Saturday as Corinthians boys ran out comfortable winners over Innishvilla to send them top of the league. Corinthians' superiority showed in the opening 15 minutes as they raced into a commanding 3-0 lead thanks to excellent play from Beineon O'Brien Whitmarsh, Conor Bowdren and Daniel O'Donovan. 10 minutes later Corinthians found another breakthrough, with Beineon O'Brien Whitmarsh scoring two in two minutes after Daniel O'Donovan and Robert Cregan provided the assists. There was enough time in the half for another Corinthians double, this time from Conor Bowdren, who's cool finishes were a result of quick interchanging build-up play from all. With the game won in the first half, Corinthians game plan changed to adopt a possession based, ball retention style. This style, substitutional and positional changes all helped to ensure a clean sheet and another two goals, this time from Conor Bowdren and Fintan Barrett. A superb team performance overall, filled with attacking, entertaining football.

Corinthian’s continue their unbeaten start to the season with a heart stopping game v old adversaries Midleton A these teams met twice last year in two different cup competitions with both teams winning one a piece. Playing into a tough breeze Cors played some great ball for 15 but found themselves 1 down after a quick counter attack. Midleton started the second half with some fierce gusto and the boys found themselves 3 down and a bit at sea. Things could only get worse as Adam Casey left the field of play injured with 25 minutes remaining as all subs had been used the lads were now down to 10. Soon after a blistering free kick from a determined Harvey Cummins nearly broke the net and woke the lads from the lacklustre performance that preceeded.

A gamble to leave 3 at the back paid off as James Adenerian’s strong burst from midfield and clinical finish gave the boys hope. With the ref advising there was 2 min left Team captain Andrew Geaney O Brien stepped up to the plate and scored a fantastic 3rd leading to wild celebrations

This was a lack lustre performance against a side of equal measure despite Cors creating many chances throughout the game. After 2 mins
with the ball sent across the Carrigaline goal no player got on the end for Cors in what could have been a great start. Both teams matched each other with goals cancelled out either end for fouls and off side.Daniel  Kelleher's effort was trickling over the line when Cian Barry followed up to be ruled offside.Earlier Carrigaline scored what looked a good goal only to be called back for a free out.The only goal that stood came with 15 mins left when Cors allowed Carrigaline forward to avoid 3 tackles to score.Enforced substitutes thorh injury did not help Cors cause.
