Lakewood Ath.  1  Corinthian Boys  4

Corinthians bounced back after their National Cup exit with an excellent team performance as they got the better of Lakewood Ath. on a 4-1 score line. The goals came from Robert Walsh with a super hat trick including two spectacular free kicks and a fine sterile from Luke O’ Leary.  It was great to see such a positive reaction to some recent disappointments and even more so with  manager Declan Coleman unavailable for the game.  Former Corinthians schoolboy player and current League Of Ireland player with Cobh Ramblers Stephen took over the reins for the day with Steve Murphy and Jim O’ Mahony and they did a great job. Well done again to all concerned.

Division 3

Fermoy 1  Cor Boys A  3

A fine away result for our Under 13A squad who got the better of a very good Fermoy side on a 3-1 score line. An early missed penalty did not seem to bother our lads and they jumped in front shortly afterwards when the excellent Liam Lucais scored from close range. Fermoy did lie down however and they got back on level terms before half time.  However it was second half substitute Adam Sheehan who was to make the difference scoring twice to secure the points

Under 15

Premier Division

Corinthian Boys  3  Lakewood Ath.  1

The Under 15 Premier had a hard won victory at home to Lakewood on Saturday morning, playing in ideal conditions on a fantastic pitch against committed opponents.

The lads started brightly maintaining position and shape but never really threatened their opponents goal. Lakewood where in a very determined mood and were looking to continue their good start to the season .

After 20 minutes Corinthians started to gain some advantage with some fine attacking runs by Leo Barron, from this more pressure was applied and resulted in a number of near misses and corners. Once such corner, on 29minutes ended up being helped on by Adam Idah and finished in by Scott Philpott to the far corner of the net.

Corinthians began the second half but Lakewood against the run of play got back into the game, when they drew level with 7 minutes to go. However this spurred the home team on to better things, they immediately applied pressure on the Lakewood defence and a fine attack was finished off by a low drive from Darragh Connell to the bottom corner.

Two minutes later, Alex Minihane finished the game off with a decisive shot which gave the keeper no chance.

The team move on to a top of the table clash away to Greenwood next week.
