Match Reports August 27th & 28th
Corinthian Boys 2 Lakewood Ath. 0
Corinthians made a great start to their first competitibe Nine A Side game as they got the better of Lakewood Ath. There was little to choose between the sides for much of the contest but eventually it was decided by two fine strikes from Ryan Deasy and Harry Quilligan. Well done lads on a great start.
Macroom 1 Corinthian Boys 3
In the 1st league game this season the lads were slow to start against a big and well drilled Macroom side.
Indeed it was Macroom who took the lead after 10 minutes following a good passing move. Playing well Macroom were unlucky not to increase their lead but for fine goalkeeping from Kacper Resjka.
Cors starting to get into the game as the 1st half wore on and in a fabulous 5 minute spell they scored 3 goals to grab a stranglehold on the game. Alex Healy Byrne got the ball rolling on 22 minutes with a super finish after good work by debutant Rory Brennan and Miceal o Mahony. David Bennett added a 2nd within a minute with a smart finish after great work by Alex. Fionn Crowley provided a great ball to Ben Weldon who drove a brilliant left footed strike into the bottom corner to put Cors 3-1 up at the break.
The 2nd half produced no further goals but the boys played well and controlled the game and could have added another couple of goals but for fine goalkeeping and the woodwork.
However a great start to the season and a good all round team performance. Fine debuts from Oran O Regan & Rory Brennan and ably supported by Miceal , Alex and Fionn augurs well for a good season ahead.

Corinthian Boys A 5 Fermoy 3
A thrilling contest which ebbed and flowed throughout prodicing eight goals and numerous chances at both ends. Both sides deserve great credit for their hard work and the football played in extremely warm conditions.
Deprived of the services of seven of last year’s squad Corinthians strted nervously and fell behind early on but showing a great attitude they worked their way back into the game and deservedly drew level just on half time courtesy if a fine individual effort from Liam Mc Grath. Boosted by this Corinthians started the second half well and were soon in front when Alan O’ Connor playing his first ever completive game game scored with a great strike from the edge of the area. However the lead did not last long and Fermoy were level within minutes. Corinthians were not to be denied however with Max Healy and Fiachra Twohig getting on top in midfield; in a brilliant ten minute spell Corinthians scored three times through Alan, Liam and Gary Farkes. Fermoy never through in the towel and they reduced the deficit to 5-3 in the final minute.
A great team effort by Corinthians with special mention for Alex Walsh and Tom Higgins who promoted up from last year’s 12B squad and did really well.
Carrigaline Utd. A 0 Corinthian Boys A 2
Corinthians got their season off to a great start when two second half goals from Mathew O’ Driscoll and Darragh Egan gave Corinthians the points against a good Carrigaline side. It was a fine team effort by our lads with all sixteen lads making a contribution. However special mention for debutants Howard Murphy and Kevin Moran and Ben O’ Donnell who came up from last season’s 14 B squad
Blarney Utd. B 2 Cor Boys B 1
Cors B squad were a little unfortunate in the day as they went down to a narrow 2-1 defeat against Blarney Utd. Corinthians had started really well dominating the first half and deservedly went in front when Jack Higgins scored from the penalty spot.
It looked good for Cors at that stage but Blarney came storming back in the second half scoring twice and despite a late rally from Corinthians they held on to claim all three points. Hard luck to our lads who if they play as well through out the season will have little
