College Corinthians 2 Rinmahon Rangers  1

Grit and determination form the Cors Junior squad!!

With limited numbers available and after a sluggish start to the season , the Corinthians Juniors played host to the team of the month Ringmahon Rangers A. Turning in a fine team performance Cors rose to the challenge and in the “Game Of The Week”

Corinthians went in front after 15 minutes when a fine Richie Cronin cross was headed superbly to the net by Rory Burke. An injury to Mark “Boz” O’ Sullivan upset Corinthians rhythm and following a period of sustained pressure Ringmahon notched a deserved equalizer 10 minutes before the interval.  Saw late pressure from Corinthians saw Corinthians ending the half on top and only some superb goalkeeping by the Ringmahon net minder kept the teams level at the break.

Corinthians opened the second half well and regained the lead when Mark O’ Driscoll scored with a fine strikers finish.  An injury to Cathal Dodd forced Corinthians to play the final 20 minutes with only ten players  but showing great heart Corinthians with the Centre back due of Ian Lynch and Ronan Whyte leading the way and the central midfield pair of Richie Cronin and Steve French working hard to close down Ringmahon attacks.

Ringmahon were close to an equalizer in the dying seconds when they had the ball in the net but the goal was disallowed for a foul on the excellent Cors keeper Gerard O’ Connell. A few seconds later the final whistle was blown and Corinthians had their first league win of the season. A great effort by all concerned with Richie Cronin voted as Man Of The Match

The Corinthians team was  Ger O’ Connell, Richie Cronin,  Mark O’ Sullivan,  Ronan Whyte, Ian Lynch,  Dave Maguire, Cathal Dodd, Stephen French,  Ian James, Mark O’ Driscoll, Rory Burke, James Kelleher,
