Four National Cup Games this week take centre stage

National Cup Games

This is a huge week for several of our teams with a number of important league as well as four mouth watering National Cup games. Four of our Club teams are still very much involved in various National Cup competitions as they reach the quarterfinal and semi final stages.

First in action are our Under 15’s who travel to Dublin to take on DDSL side Belvedere; the game kicks off at 5pm. The lads have been having  a fine season under the management trio of Paul Kelleher, Donal Donovan and Mile Russell and despite the probable absence of a few regulars will be looking to play to put in a strong performance on Saturday evening.

On Sunday we have two cracking National Cup quarter finals in Corinthians Park with the action starting with an under 13 local derby with Corinthians taking on Carrigaline (12 Noon) with a place in the semi final at stake. Corinthians coached by Mark Redmond, John Meade and Craig Donnellan have defeated North End from Wexfors and Villa FC from Waterford  in the last two rounds but will have to be at their best if they are to get the better of a Carrigaline side that has been in fine form in recent months.

This game will be followed by an Under 16 quarter Final which sees Corinthians taking on DDSL side Cherry Orchard.  Despite missing several players through injury Corinthians have played well in the National Cup with 4th & 5th round victories over Clane from Kildare and Arklow Town, The squad which is managed by Ray Couch will know they face a very stiff challenge but will draw confidence from the performance of their Under 17 Club colleagues who got the better of another DDSL side St. Kevins Boys in their quarter final a few weeks ago. This game kicks off at 2pm.

Speaking of the Under 17’s they travel to limerick next Wednesday night, May 25th to take on Herberstown in the semi final of the National Cup. The game kicks off at 8pm in Jackman Park  and is sure to be a cracker. Cormac Cotter and Declan Cooke will be hoping their side will be up for the challenge against a Herbertstown side unbeaten all season. With a place in a National Cup final at stake it should be some game.

Four fantastic games so if you can make the effort to come along to the games
