Family Fun Day / World Cup Street League Finals Day 2014
World Cup Street League Finals / Family Fun Day 2013 / 14
Blessed with good weather this years Family Fun Day / Street League Finals Day attracted a huge crowd to Corinthians Park and everyone seemed to enjoy the sunshine and the occasion as coaches, players and their families mixed freely in a very enjoyable atmosphere. Picnics were the order of the day with refreshments close at hand as people kept abreast with the football action
Besides the football, there was many other attractions with Corky the Cork City mascot proving as popular as ever, there was face painting and Clowns and the Play area for the younger kids proved very popular. However the main action of the day was on the football field as the young stars of the future gave 100% and more for their team’s cause. Irrespective of the results everyone went home a winner indeed many went home with a trophy in one hand and an ice cream in the other hand; oh it’s a hard life!
On the field there was some tremendous action with kids from under 6 to under 11 showing off the skills they acquired during the season. There was goals aplenty, great saves, near misses and some thrilling contests, Add to this the penalty competitions and you can see the action was non stop. The ladies joined in the spirit of the day with the ladies penalty competition one of the highlights.
A Big Thank You To Everyone Who Helped
They are plenty of people both behind the scenes and involved on the day who need to deserve special thanks for making the day such a success, these include
Our ladies committee, Marie Cruise, Niamh Buckley, Amanda Walsh, the two Mary’s, Lenihan and Kennelly and Margaret Fox who were the brains behind everything on the day.
Grounds man Denis Barry who had the pitches in great condition. And also thanks to all our Club members who gave up their time to get the grounds in great order.
All our Club Coaches who have given so much during the season.
Thanks also to our parents who have supported the Club throughout the season.
Finally special thanks to Cork City players Brian Lenihan and Gary Buckley, Brian played all his schoolboy football with Corinthians before moving to Cork City less than two years ago. He has been outstanding for City this season and as a result was capped by the Republic Of Ireland Under 21’s recently. Gary Buckley who has been superb in midfield for City was an outstanding schoolboy player with Leeds and we were delighted that he too came along to help with the presentation and the two lads were great with the kids.
