All eyes on Under 13 National Cup Final
Under 13 National Cup Final, Saturday May 16th, kick off 3pm
Corinthian Boys V St. Joseph Boys
The Corinthians Under 13 Premier squad face their date with destiny on Saturday when they take on St. Joseph Boys (DDSL) in the National Cup Final. They have had a fantastic season so far losing just the one league game as themselves and Blarney have gone head to head all year and winning the local Cup during the week in Turners Cross with a 1-0 win over St. Marys. However it is in the National Cup that they have shown their best form as they initially qualified out of Cork with wins over Rockmount, Mallow, Cor Boys A.
They drew North End Utd. From Wexford in the last thirty Two and following a comfortable 5-0 win, they headed to Waterford to play a highly rated Villa AFC. This was a big test for our lads and having gone behind just before half time they fought back in great style to win 2-1. The character shown in this game was fantastic and this will surely stand them in good stead in Saturday’s final.
In the quarter final, it was a local derby against Carrigaline and a late winner from Jack Leonard secured their passage into the semi final and an away tie against Cabinteely. Played on artificial surface Corinthians got the better of a gallant Cabinteely side with a fine team performance winning 3-0.
The build up to the final has been a busy one as Corinthians played quarter final, semi and final of the local Cup and as often happens they have picked up some injuries which means that Alex Hill and Robert Geaney O’ Brien are serious doubts for the final. However it has always been a squad effort and if the lads can’t make it there is plenty of talent throughout the squad to compensate for their loss.
Mark Redmond, John Meade and Craig Donnellan coach the Corinthians squad and they have been brilliant with the lads all year both on and off the pitch and thoroughly deserve the success that has come their way
So all that remains is to wish the team the best of luck and lets bring the Cup back to Cork
The Corinthians squad for the final is
Alex Hill, Cian O' Leary, Daniel Meade, Daniel Squires, David O' Sullivan, David Welch, Destiny, Eoin Redmond, George Coomber, Joe Harte, Mark Redmond, Mathew Healy, Michael Nason, Robert Geaney O' Brien, Shabe Cotter, Sean Cantillon, Jack Leonard
