Corinthians Under 14’s win Pike Rovers Pre Season Tournament

Tournamment 2014

The Under 14 Premier team continued their preparations for the upcoming season with a victory in the Pike Rovers pre season tournament. The tournament was divided into two groups with Corinthians drawn against Collinstown(South Dublin), Killarney Celtic & Pike Rovers in group 1.

The matches where played in damp and miserable conditions but the better passing game employed by Corinthians easily saw them past Collinstown, winning 5-0.

The second game against Killarney Celtic was a tighter affair with Corinthians winning by 1-0, while it was close on the scoreboard, Killarney rarely threatened to score.

The third game was played literally 5 minutes after game 2, while our hosts Pike Rovers enjoyed a longer break before the game. The boys struggled to get into the game and after a period of sustained pressure Pike scored in the 1st half. Corinthians came more into the game in the 2nd half and despite dominating the half they couldn’t get the equalising goal. Despite the loss Corinthians progressed to the final.

In the final Maree Oranmore from Galway provided the opposition, it was obvious from the start both teams were drawing on energy reserves at the end of a long day. Good pre season work stood to Corinthians and they went on to win the final 2-0.
