FAI Junior Cup 5th Round

Killarney Celtic  0  College Corinthians  1

The first juniors covered themselves in glory on Saturday when they travelled to Killarney and came away with a fine 1-0 victory over the home side. It completed a great double for the Club with the Corinthians Under 11's also getting the better of Killarney in their under 11 National Cup clash. The schoolboy game preceded the big Junior cup clash and like the schoolboy clash it proved a very enjoyable contest.

Corinthians with Ian Nolan and Mark O' Donovan very solid at the back and Kyle Meehan and Ricky & Mark O' Sullivan doing well in midfield had the better of the first half and only some fine goalkeeping by the Killarney net minder kept the scoreline blank. However Killarney stepped up their performance in the second and it was the turn of the Corinthians goalkeeper Rory O' Neill to show his qualities. The game was now balanced on a knife edge and looked set for extra time when Corinthians snatched a dramatic winner.

With time almost up, Mark O' Sullivan swung over a corner and Kyle Meehan climbed highest to power a header past the Killarney keeper. There was no way back for Killarney and Corinthians celebrated a fine cup double over their hosts.

As a result of this victory Corinthians will head back to Killarney again to take on Celtic's great rivals Killarney Athletic, certainly something to look forward too.

Special thanks to Killarney Celtic for their hospitality which was very much appreciated on the day and we look forward to renewing acquaintances with Killarney in the near future.
