Under 14 Premier get the better of Carrigaline
U14 Premier Corinthian Boys 2 Carrigaline 0
The U14 Premier team concluded their home programme of matches with a solid 20 victory over Carrigaline. The team started brightly, passing the ball well and maintaining possession. After a few early chances the scoring was opened in the 6th minute when a fine cross from the right was headed home by Adam Idah. They continued to press but could not find the second goal. Gradually Carrigaline came into the match but neither team really threatened apart from one shot from Carrigaline which was brilliantly saved by Richard Lombard. The second half started well for the lads, they increased the tempo and did not give Carrigaline as much time on the ball. Adam Idah was a constant threat and one of his attack resulted in a free kick at the edge of the box. Up stepped the excellent Scott Philpott to get his 9th league goal for the season.
Corinthians continued to press and were unlucky not to score on a few occasions despite playing some very attractive football. Carrigaline had one or two opportunities but the Corinthians defence held firm. The team moves on to a very important away game against Ringmahon Friday night at 6.45, all support would be greatly appreciated. Squad: R.Lombard, D.Murphy, J.McFall, S.Philpott. L.Barron.
