Under 13 Premier squad win International Soccer Tournament in Spain
It has been an incredible season for the Club's schoolboy section winning five Premier League title and two local Cups; the Corinthians Under 13 Premier squad have been central to these achievements winning the league and cup double.
Last Saturday they headed to Spain looking to pit their skills against opposition from all over Europe in the KOMMI MIT cup in Barcelona, it was their version of the Champions League and they responded to the challenge magnificently winning the sixteen team tournament playing some fantastic football.
The tournament which is played north of Barcelona is a highly prestigious one and features teams from Europes top football countries . Having won their section winning all three games on Monday and Tuesday against German and Italian opposition , the lads played a Ukrainian team in the Quarter Final earlier this morning followed by two German sides in the semi final and final.
The final was a tense tight affair against a high quality German side SV Olypiodorf which was decided by a superb headed goal from the outstanding Adam Idah. As the game opened up Corinthians went close to increasing their lead hitting the wioodwork twice but keeper Richard Lombard made two fine saves to preserve his sides lead. At the final whistle there was great celebrations as the team and coaches were thrilled by their victory against such an outstanding team.
When one takes into account that games were 20 minutes A Side so the team had played for two hours today in 30 Degree which makes theur achievement all the more laudable.
The team which was managed by Stephen Bermingham, Michael Baron, Ger Lombard and Dermot Murphy included eighteen players and everyone made a huge contribution during the course of the six matches; so a fantastic effort and a brilliant way for the Club to finish the season. Hopefully we will get photos and more details which we will put up on the website and Tweet to @collegecors
Well done again to all concerned
