Under 12 A’s through to Semi Final of Albert Combye Cup

Corinthian Boys A earned a well deserved victory and a semi final place against a galant and strong Macroom side in this exciting encounter.

This was the second time these sides met in Macroom this season with the home team vastly improved since the previous encounter.

Cors pretty much doninated the first half with Connor o Herlihy and Fionn Coleman dictating the middle and the front paring of Daniel o Regan and Adam Sheehan alwas looking lively.

The boys created chance after chance with Daniel eventually beating the keeper when he cooly slotted home after a thru ball from midfield. Liam Flynn played probably his best game all season up against a powerfull no 11 on the home side and caused problems all evening. Cors should have entered half time further ahead with a bit of pre arranged trickary from a short corner, Fionn laid on to Connor who pulled it back to Daniel on the edge of the box decieving all, his scorcher of a strike rattling the post. Just before half time Daniel was again thru on goal only to be taken down from behind by a sinical tackel after a yellow card the free king drew a class save from the Macroom keeper one of many he produced during the game, Not to be outdone by his opposite number Lorcan Cagney pulled off a classic save himself as the half drew to an end.

Corinthians again looked to more dangerous side at the start of the second half and should of increased the lead on two occasions when after rounding the  the keeper and with an open goal we shot wide. As the half progressed the home team started to get a foothold on the game but the back four of Deri Delma, Aidan Twomey,Lincon Kennedy and Ciaran Kenny were looking very strong.

One is never enough and when Fionn latched onto the ball just inside a cluttered box he unleashed an unstopable strike into the roof of the net. Cors were now looking good to progress. However Macroom had other ideas and two quick responces had them equal with 10 to go

With fresh leggs intoduced David Jones found himself leading the line and duely provided the all important third when he split the defenders and rounded the keeper and made no mistake in cooly finishing off. A great result for the lads and a great game to watch. The team are now eagerly awaiting the semifinal v Passage United
